In this lesson, we’ll introduce the foundational elements of a TPC survey and the role the TPC Desktop plays in managing them. You’ll learn what makes up a typical survey—points, lines, surfaces, drawings, traverses, and deliverables—and how each fits into the bigger picture. Every survey you complete will use these same components, so our focus is on understanding concepts you can apply consistently to your own projects.

We’ll walk through how to open and close surveys using the File menu, and introduce the Task Manager, where you’ll access Sample Surveys, Shared Surveys, and Your Surveys. You’ll see how the TPC Desktop is purpose-built to help you organize, develop, and manage all parts of your survey efficiently—from field data to final deliverables.

By the end of this lesson, you’ll have a clear picture of how TPC structures your work and how to begin navigating it with confidence.
