In this lesson, you’ll learn how to select and interact with objects in TPC’s Quick View, including how it compares to traditional CAD editing—and where it protects your data from common CAD pitfalls.
We’ll begin by drawing a fillet and intentionally bumping a line, creating a visible error in the drawing. This demonstrates one of the risks of CAD-based editing, where even small changes can compromise a plat. It’s why CAD relies on locked layers—and why TPC gives you more control through data associations.
Next, you’ll select and delete objects like 2 lines and an arc using right-click context menus, just like you would in Windows. Then we’ll show you what happens when you try to move a survey line—you can’t, because it’s tied to real survey data. Instead, TPC lets you move certain items, like a line label, which maintains its offset from the line. You’ll also try moving a foundation traverse, where TPC will prompt you with a warning—protecting your data integrity.
Finally, we’ll explore how objects are accented on hover, how tooltips help you identify them, and where you can customize these display features in the settings dialog.
By the end of this lesson, you’ll understand how TPC keeps survey data safe while still offering flexible, CAD-like drawing controls in Quick View.
